Game 64 Preview: Ducks @ Avalanche

64 - ducks
64 - ducks

The Ducks roll into town, coming off a home win against Chicago last night. It was an emotional win for Anaheim as they came out very flat in the first but then commanded the rest of the game. The key to an Avalanche win is to take advantage of a tired foe and get some goals early.

Both clubs could look differently on the ice tonight than they do right now as the trade deadline ticks closer. Both clubs are also scratching for every point they can get right now as that Western Conference playoff race is a big ole traffic jam once again. The Ducks currently sit in 13th with 64 points; only four points ahead is Colorado in 10th.

Injuries: For the Avs, Stefan Elliott suffered a laceration when a puck nailed him in the face during the Wings game. He is considered probable for tonight. Milan Hejduk is still out with a groin injury. Peter Mueller is still day-to-day, but he's certainly close to returning. Ryan O'Byrne is on the IR with a knee injury. The Ducks are relatively healthy with only Dan Ellis out (torn groin).

No word yet on the starting goaltenders.

UPDATE: With the trade of Winnik and Galiardi, Hejduk and Mueller both WILL be in tonight. McGinn will not play tonight. Varlamov will be in net.
