There's three games of significance tonight in the West as the idle Avs hang on to 8th for dear life.
Chicago at Dallas, 6:30 MT (roughly now as I hit publish)
Calgary at Edmonton, 7:30 MT
Los Angeles at Anaheim, 8:00 MT
Here's your standings as the night begins:
Rank | Div | GP | W | L | OTL | P | ROW | |||||||||
3 | Dallas | PAC | 71 | 39 | 27 | 5 | 83 | 33
6 | Chicago | CEN | 71 | 38 | 25 | 8 | 84 | 33
7 | Phoenix | PAC | 72 | 35 | 26 | 11 | 81 | 30
8 | Colorado | NW | 73 | 38 | 30 | 5 | 81 | 29
9 | San Jose | PAC | 70 | 35 | 25 | 10 | 80 | 28
10 | Calgary | NW | 71 | 34 | 25 | 12 | 80 | 31
11 | Los Angeles | PAC | 70 | 33 | 25 | 12 | 78 | 28 |
Rooting for Edmonton and Anaheim are a given to keep Calgary and LA at bay. Chicago/Dallas should be a fine game to watch (based on home/road/last 10 records I'd call it for Dallas), but really either team losing in regulation helps the Avs. Personally, I'm rooting for Chicago because a) they have more points b) I still think Dallas will crash at the end and c) to hell with the Stars. That said... Please don't have the 3-point game we all know you're going to have :(
