4 games left. And the Avs need to win them all.
The Colorado Avalanche take on the Vancouver Canucks tonight for the last time all season. The Canucks have won all 5 of 5 meetings this season, but your Avalanche outplayed their division rival for the majority of the most recent game before dropping the decision in overtime. The Avs have been outscored 18-5 against the Canucks.
The Canucks will be without team goal scoring leader Daniel Sedin (concussion), and Aaron Rome, who suffered a knee injury on Chuck Kobasew's unpenalized hit that resulted in a $2,500 fine for Chuck. The hit angered Vancouver at the time and I wouldn't be surprised to see more of that hostility tonight as these teams don't like each other.
'Nucks goalie Roberto Luongo has righted the ship and is playing like a championship goaltender (even if you think he isn't one) in his last 3 games. Semyon Varlamov has hit a 3 game skid, allowing 10 goals in the last 3 matches, but his team hasn't given him a ton of help. Lately it seems the Avs are paying for every little mistake, so if they want to keep playing after April 7th, they'll have to prove it tonight. Yeah, "must win". I said it.
Go Avs!
