After an exciting and eventful week of training camp, fans in Colorado Springs will finally get a chance to see the Colorado Avalanche in action tonight in the Avs' annual intrasquad Burgundy and White game at the Air Force Academy. How will P.A. Parenteau mesh with Matt Duchene? Is either Stefan Elliott or Tyson Barrie ready to move ahead of the logjam on defense to secure a roster spot? And which of the plethora of new goalies will get a head start on winning the starting job in Lake Erie.
It's been a long offseason (169 days, by my math) and it is great to have hockey back. While the game will not be televised, the excitement is still palpable since the new season is right around the corner. We're less than 3 weeks away from opening night on October 11th. And if that wasn't good enough, tonight is the only night all season where an Avalanche victory is guaranteed!
Oh wait, never mind.
** (we will have a game thread tonight and I'd like to bring back the tacky photoshop game thread pic, so this is a GREAT for you creative types to work out some anti-CBA angst)
