As the number get larger, the amount of men who have worn the number for the Colorado Avalanche or Quebec Nordiques gets smaller. Today is no exception, only two men have worn the number 54.
Ed Ward Quebec Nordiques (94): Ward was drafted by the Nordiques in the 6th round of the 1988 Draft. He didn't make the NHL roster until the 1994 season, and even that was for a limited amount of games. He played 7 games, had one goal and five penalty minutes. He was traded during the 1995 season to the Calgary Flames for Francois Groleau.
David Jones Colorado Avalanche (08-13): The current wearer of the number 54: David Jones was drafted in the 9th round by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2003 Draft. Since that time he has played 239 regular season games, earning 67 goals, 50 assists and 78 penalty minutes. He averaged a -4.4 in that time. He has also appeared in 10 playoff games for the Avs and had one point and 6 penalty minutes. He's had two seasons in which he scored 20 goals or more.
