The Colorado Avalanche have recalled forward Michael Sgarbossa from Lake Erie. To make room, the Avs sent forward Brad Malone back to the Monsters. Sgarbossa is tied for 12th in the AHL in scoring with 36 points and played last night in the AHL All-Star game (the West won, 7-6).
The 20-year-old center was acquired from San Jose last February along with Michael Connelly and Jamie McGinn (it was a huge deal) for Dan Winnik, TJ Galiardi and a 7th round pick. He lead the OHL in scoring (like a Sgarbossa) last year with 102 points playing for the Sudbury Wolves. Expect him to wear #43 for the Avalanche (by strange coincidence, he's on one of the two NHL teams with a player wearing the #92 he wore in Juniors). He is originally from Campbellville Ontario - a place I have never visited.
