Live GameThread: Charlotte Checkers at Lake Erie Monsters & Denver Cutthroats at Quad City Mallards (Jan 4)

We're adventurous folks here at Mile High Hockey, so we thought we try a live thread for tonight's Monsters' and Cutthroats' games (because, well, fuck you Gary).

The Monsters tonight host the Charlotte Checkers at the Quicken Loans Fiesta Bowl Brought To You By All-State Arena in Cleveland at 7:30 tonight (normal time). The Monsters are led in scoring by Michael Sgarbossa, followed closely by Tyson Barrie (who seems to have jettisoned way ahead of Stefan Elliott on the "next" list). The Checkers seem to be going the "sign the brother" route, having a Sutter, a Stall and a Boychuk on the roster as well as Michael Jordan's much younger brother Michal.

Denver Cutthroats are also in action tonight, facing the Quad City Mallards. This is Denver's second game of a 12-game road trip that extends through the month of January. (The stock show has taken over the Fish Bowl.) This is the first of five meetings between the two teams. The Fish have sole possession of third place in the CHL, just five points out of first. AJ Gale (19 goals, 23 assists), Brad Smyth (16 goals, 25 assists) and Troy Schwab (10 goals, 27 assists) are third, fourth and fifth in scoring for the league respectively. Game time is 6:05 pm MT.
