Cowen struck Girgensons in the head late in the third period of Ottawa’s game in Buffalo on Tuesday night. No penalty was called on the play.
Thirty thoughts started with an Avalanche tidbit.
I thought it was important to start with Florida Panthers GM Dale Tallon's denial in a Miami Herald blog of our report on Hockey Night Hotstove that he had a trade in place involving Dmitri Kulikov, which was the reason the defenceman was scratched last week. It is believed Tallon's trading partner was the Colorado Avalanche. The two teams did have some serious talks and may do so again. Lastly a preview of the Avs - Jets tilt.
Who's hot: Avalanche left wing Gabriel Landeskog has points in four of his past six games (two goals, four assists). … Little, the Jets' leading scorer with 13 goals and 28 points, has points in three of his past five games (one goal, two assists). Forward Olli Jokinen has three goals and two assists in his past five games.
