Reigniting the Fan Post Flame

There once was a time, not so long ago, that Fan Posts were all the rage. It was a pretty cool time, and we got some amazing articles out of it.

But then SBN made some changes, upgrading the look and feel of the place, and member contributions outside of comments dwindled. Some of that is due to the less-than-prominent placement of the Fan Post and Fan Shot sections. However, some of it is due to the posts losing their luster, lacking that come-hither quality that made people want to bare their souls or ramble incoherently. Alas, it's long past time for changing the tide.

I'm putting a call out to everyone, encouraging you to bust out the Fan Posts once again. While the writers here at MHH love to promote our hive mind opinions, this place simply isn't the same without the community's voices adding to the din. In order to celebrate the awesomeness that is you, the MHH faithful, we are going to start a weekly Fan Post tradition.

Here's how it works:

1. You folks will write some Fan Posts. They can be analysis, opinion, editorial; retrospective, investigative, biographical; hard-hitting, sentimental, humorous. As long as it follows the general MHH "be excellent to one another" guidelines, the post can be whatever you want it to be.

2. Every Friday, the staff will pick one post to be front paged as our Weekly Fan Post Special. That's not to say we won't front page more than one article per week. If something is fantastic, we're not going to wait until Friday. If more than one something is fantastic, we're not going to promote only one of them. That's also not to say we won't skip a Friday if there aren't any worthy contributions. Just because you tell us about your new Fatty McGinn snuggy doesn't mean you get front page privileges.

That's it. You write. We applaud you. EZPZ. So go get your writing on, and let's rock this joint!
