Joey Hishon played his first game in nearly two years. He didn't record a point, however, he had three shots on goal. I couldn't find a recap up at the time of this article, but here is the gamesheet. How good does it feel to see his name there.
Ryan Miller is having to backtrack some comments he made to the media.
Buffalo Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller has apologized for calling out teammate Patrick Kaleta and admitted he shouldn't have gone public with his criticism.
Following Buffalo's loss to Washington on Sunday, Miller told reporters Kaleta "needs to grow up" after being told the forward wasn't happy about being a healthy scratch after serving a five-game suspension.
But in an interview on the Sabres website, Miller acknowledged he shouldn't have done that and said he and Kaleta have patched things up.
Jake Gardiner has been freed.
Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Dave Nonis confirmed defenceman Jake Gardiner has been recalled from the American Hockey League, but told a Toronto radio station on Tuesday the 22-year-old would be available to play for coach Randy Carlyle Wednesday if "he chooses to put him in."
News of the promotion arrived one week after Gardiner’s agent, Ben Hankinson, gave the long-running fan dissatisfaction with Gardiner’s absence a voice; logging onto Twitter to write: #FreeJakeGardiner.
"The #FreeJakeGardiner tweet, Jake had nothing to do with that," Nonis told Sportsnet 590 The FAN on Tuesday. "You don’t hold that against a player. And you also don’t recall him because of it. Jake is recalled because he’s played well enough to be an option for us, to possibly be in the lineup and help the offensive part of our game."
For the first time in quite some time I don't see Stastny's name on the "trade bait" lists, does that mean he's gone this year?
