Avalanche recall Pickard, Vincour and Sullivan

Jerome Miron-US PRESSWIRE

Right wing and recent acquisition Tomas Vincour makes his Avalanche debut tonight in St. Louis. In addition, although there aren't any details coming out yet about their places on the roster, G Calvin Pickard and D Sean Sullivan have also been recalled (via AHL transactions list).

I wouldn't be surprised to see Matt Hunwick sitting after that nasty high stick he took to the face on Sunday. It could also be that Semyon Varlamov is still suffering from recent injuries, as are David Jones or Milan Hejduk.

Some tidbits on each player:

In his third professional season, Vincour played 117 career games with the Texas Stars, collecting 30 goals and 26 assists (56 points). He has seven goals and eight assists in 86 career NHL games with the Dallas Stars.

He was the first Edmonton Oil Kings (of the WHL) player to be drafted by an NHL team. The St. Louis Blues drafted his cousin, Libor Zabransky, in the 1995 Entry Draft.

Pickard has shared 'tending duties with Sami Aittokalio in Lake Erie this season. He's been solid between the pipes, putting up a 2.47 GAA and .918 save percentage over 47 games (20-19-3-5). The young netminder had just two games in the AHL last season, finishing up his juniors career with the Seattle Thunderbirds. In his time in Seattle, Pickard played 241 games (91-120-27) and recorded a 3.27 GAA and .908 save percentage.

Sullivan, a Boston University alumnus, is in his 6th year in professional hockey, all of which has been in the AHL. He's spent time with the San Antonio Rampage, Arizona Sundogs and Worcester Sharks before signing on with the Colorado Avalanche organization as a free agent on July 10, 2012. He has recorded one goal and six assists in 34 games with the Monsters this season, although his real talent is as a stay-at-home defenseman.
