The New York Rangers will be looking for a new head coach.

The New York Rangers fired John Tortorella on Wednesday, and judging by his usual news conferences, he probably has a lot to say about that. Here are 10 memorable quotes from your favourite ex-head coach.

Everyone is friends at the Combine this year.

“He left a great a impression,” Jones said of MacKinnon’s Memorial Cup performance. “Every time we played him, a hat trick each game. It doesn’t get any better than that. Five points in the final, one of the greatest performances in the final. He’s a tough player to contain. He’s a great player, he’s strong, got good hands, fast. I’ll be happy for him.”

MacKinnon wasn’t taking that compliment lying down.

“Seth’s an unbelievable defenceman,” said MacKinnon. “Seth and Jo are great players. Obviously, human nature, you think about going No. 1, but at the same time, you’re going to be the exact same player going to the draft coming out of it.

“It’s just how high you go. It would be pretty cool to go No. 1. It would be pretty special.”

Not if Don Maloney has anything to say about it. The freshly-signed general manager has declined all requests from teams to speak with Tippett, according to the Arizona Republic.

“Let’s face it: He’s a terrific coach in a great position to decide where he wants to coach next year,” Maloney said. “His contract is up, so we have to work and see if we can come to some understanding that makes him confident enough to sign here with us, and we’re going to do everything in our power to make that happen.”
