According to Adrian Dater via Twitter, Adam Foote will join Patrick Roy behind the Avalanche bench for the 2013-2014 season. His role will be part time as he will not join the team on the road; his focus, of course, will be defense.
The Avs need a lot of help on the blueline, and there's no question Foote's influence will be invaluable. Despite a concerted move to bulk up the back end, the bigger players did not translate into making the team tougher to play against. Guys like Shane O'Brien and, when he joins the team, Duncan Siemens will certainly benefit from the tutelage of the two-time Stanley Cup winning and future Hall of Fame defenseman.
