The Habs use a buyout. Would you want the Avs to pick him up?

Tomas Kaberle has reportedly been informed by the Montreal Canadiens that the team intends to use its final compliance buyout on the defenceman.

According to multiple media reports, the Habs notified the veteran blue-liner of the pending move. The team has not made any announcements.

The 35-year-old has one year and $4.5 million US left on his current three-year contract that carries a cap hit of $4.25 million.

The Leafs and Kings made a trade on the weekend.

Maple Leafs general manager Dave Nonis isn’t making any promises for the job of Toronto’s No. 1 goaltender.

He likes his options though after acquiring Jonathan Bernier from the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday.

Bernier, stuck behind all-star goalie Jonathan Quick in Los Angeles, has been looking for more playing time and is sure to put heat on Maple Leafs incumbent James Reimer.

The Guys who built my guitar sent me a link on Matt Duchene. Matt took part in a charity golf game recently.

It was a little piece of North Bay Battalion history coming together again.

Stan Butler, the head coach and general manager of the North Bay Battalion, paired up with former pupil Matt Duchene, now a star centre for the NHL's Colorado Avalanche, on the same foursome at the inaugural One Kids Place Charity Golf Tournament at Osprey Links Golf Club in Callander.

Speaking of Duchene and charities... he now has a T-Shirt available to raise funds for his hometown.

All SportsChirps.com T-Shirts are 100% cotton and come with our famous SportsChirps.com logo on the back. The "Teach Me How To Dutchy" is brought to you by Matt Duchene of the Colorado Avalanche . Every T-Shirt sold a percentage will be donated to Minden Flood Relief on behalf of Matt Duchene and SportsChirps.com
