From the Cutthroats' press release:
DENVER – The Denver Cutthroats will hold open tryouts on Friday, August 23 through Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Edge Ice Arena in Littleton, Colo.
Participants will be competing for a chance to be invited to training camp with the Denver Cutthroats. Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The cost is $150 per player, participants will not be guaranteed all three days of tryouts. Included in the fee is an official tryout jersey provided by the team as well as instruction from the Cutthroats coaching staff.
Any free agent hockey player 18 years of age or older is eligible. Participating players are required to bring full gear (including mouth guard) and abide with CHL regulations by wearing a helmet with a half-visor (full-cage helmets will not be allowed).
Three players were invited to training camp from the Cutthroats inaugural season tryouts. Local defenseman Phil Tesoriero went through tryouts and training camp and made it on the team’s 2012-13 roster. “I spent all summer getting ready for open tryouts,” Tesoriero said. “There were 75 guys and it was a good feeling to be one of the few who made it. It showed hard work pays off.”
Denver Cutthroats coaching staff await the prospects to be found in this year’s tryouts. “We are excited for our second annual free agent camp,” said assistant coach Brad Smyth. “It is a great opportunity for players to skate and compete against each other at a high level of intensity.”
Tryouts will be held at Edge Ice Arena in Littleton, Colo. on Friday, August 23rd from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday, August 24th from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and Sunday, August 25th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. All sessions are open for public viewing.
