Avs Kick Off Preseason Against The Ducks

The Avs will start their 6 game preseason tonight at Pepsi Center. This is the first of two preseason match ups against the Ducks, but also serves as a preview for the Avalanche's home opener against Anaheim on October 2nd.

The Avalanche have attracted quite the buzz this offseason and after months hype over rookie Nathan MacKinnon and the hiring of Joe Sakic and head-coach Patrick Roy, the Avalanche will finally test their new on-ice product against another NHL team (well, sort of).  The puck drops at 7:00 PM at Pepsi Center, and while the game is not broadcast for Avs fans, our own Marc Moser will be calling the game on your radios at KRWZ 950 AM.

We'll update this preview/game thread as tonights roster is announced, but until then here's what we have to go off of:

- Semyon Varlamov will start in the Avalanche net

- Adran Dater has confirmed two of the lines for tonights game:

Gabriel Landeskog - Paul Stastny - Alex Tanguay

Jamie McGinn - Nathan MacKinnon - P.A. Parenteau

- Via player's twitter feeds, it appears as though:

Chris BigrasTroy Bourke, Spencer Martin, Colin Smith and possibly Mitchell Heard will be playing in tonights game.

On the Ducks side:

- Viktor Fasth, Cam Fowler, Ben Lovejoy, Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, Dustin Penner, Kyle Palmieri, Mark Fistric, Kyle Cumiskey and Devante Smith-Pelly all played in last nights preseason game against the Kings.

- Unless Bruce Boudreau decides to give out some back-to-back games, the Avalanche will likely face a lineup that includes Andrew Cogliano, Saku Koivu, Teemu Selanne, Jakob Silfverberg, Daniel Winnik, Francois Beauchemin, Sheldon Souray, and Jonas Hiller.

UPDATE:  Adrian Dater at the Denver Post just linked the lineups for tonights matchup. Here is the Avalanche's roster for the night, and suspected line combinations based on camp and the Burgundy and White game.
