The United States team at the 2014 Sochi Olympics could closely resemble the group that won silver four years earlier. That’s a contrast from Canada, which has had members of its management group emphasize that a gold in Vancouver won’t mean the same team returns.

U.S. general manager David Poile has said the plan is to “reward success,” and that includes the 2010 Games and recent world championships. With that in mind, here’s a look at what the U.S. team could look like:

Chicago Blackhawks and goalie Corey Crawford have agreed to a six-year contract extension.

Crawford started every playoff game for Chicago last season, helping the Blackhawks win their second Stanley Cup title in four years. He went 16-7 with an NHL-best 1.84 goals-against average in the post-season.

The Blackhawks announced the deal on Monday. The contract is reportedly worth US$36 million and runs through the 2019-’20 season.

Did you happen to catch the way that Teemu Selanne announced that he will be playing in the NHL one more season? If not, check out this youtube clip.
