Good evening ladies and gentlemen! Your Colorado Avalanche take on the Wilds of Minnesota tonight in beautiful downtown St Paul.
Lots of wonderfully confusing things have happened to the Avs roster and potential lineup since last night's performance against the Isles. Here's what we have:
Ryan O'Reilly - will play!
Tyson Barrie - will not play due to a shoulder injury
Nate Guenin - placed on Injured Reserve
Nick Holden - will not play due to a birth in the family
Karl Stollery - called up last night from LEM. Will play!
Ryan Wilson - called up today from a conditioning assignment w/LEM. Will play!
David Van der Gulik - something happened to Vandy during the game last night, we don't know what but he missed the 3rd period. The Avs do have 13 reasonably healthy forwards right now so nbd if he can't go.
A word or two on Karl Stollery - What he lacks in size (5'11. 180#) he makes up for in versatility. Last year he was the Monsters leading scorer on the blueline with 5G/29A, this year he's been asked to be the top shutdown guy and still has managed 5G/6A in 29 games. He's smart, moves the puck well in all 3 zones, has a heavy wrist shot and a devastating hip check.
Tonight's quiz: What team merged with the North Stars in 1978 then were calved off in 1991 to become the Sharks? First poster with the correct answer gets a six-pack of Billy Beer.
