It wasn't pretty last night when Alex Tanguay took a heavy shot to the face off the stick of Alex Ovechkin. It was clear that he was injured pretty badly by the way he skated off the ice and was transported to the hospital in an ambulance. Word's been released today that, as feared, he has facial fractures. Coach Patrick Roy has only said that he'll miss the team's upcoming game against Carolina. However, there's a good chance he'll miss more than that.
That wasn't the only injury last night, unfortunately. In the third period, Dennis Everberg was on the losing end of a huge hit. He now has a separated shoulder. How long he'll be out has yet to be determined, but anyone who's experience a separated shoulder knows it's going to be a while.
Call ups are inevitable, but someone will need to go on IR to make it happen. Who those recalls will be is still unknown.
