Nine games into the season the beloved Monsters sit back at .500 but it's been a rocky ride. A split, a double-loss, a 1-1-1 and a double-win have propelled LEM to where they stand now. Now that there's been some stability for a few games and the Q arena is available when needed, we should see consistent results in November.
- Dennis Everberg scored his first NHL goal with the Avs on Sunday night against the Anaheim Ducks.
- Sami Aittokallio made his debut for the Ft Wayne Komets on Saturday giving up 4 goals in a 5-4 victory. Mitch Heard had 2 goals in the game giving him 5 on the season.
- The Monsters are doing Movember again, and in a new twist are doing it in two teams. You can donate to either or both on the team pages.
Team Gervais: Coach Jock, Stefan Elliot, Bruno Gervais & Garrett Meurs
Team Pickard: Calvin Pickard, Michael Schumacher, Colin Smith & Ben Street
Week 4 Recap
The Monsters took it to defending Calder Cup champs Texas both nights, scoring 2 goals early in both games and riding on from there, 5-2 & 4-3 in OT. Cody Corbett made his LEM debut and looked comfortable paired with Duncan Siemens and ended up with an assist and had another taken away on a bullshit goalie interference call in game 1.
Joey Hishon finally got on track with an assist in game 1 and 2 goals in game 2, his first 3 points of the year. He's been threatening lately but the pucks weren't dropping, good to see him back in form.
Michael Schumacher scored the winning OT goal in game 2.
Mike Sgarbossa continues to lead the team in assists and points with 7, with Carey (3G/3A), Elliott (2G/4A) & Smith (1G/5A) close on his heels.
Just a little over a week ago, the IceHogs [7-2-1] caught Lake Erie [4-4-1] on the back end of a 3-in-3 and scored 3 in the 3rd to gain a 5-2 victory. Hopefully fresh legs will make a difference this time and LEM can continue the winning trend from last weekend. No word on any lineup changes or injury updates so if all goes the same, here's what we'll see tonight:
Schumi - Boss - Smitty
Carey - Aggz - Ryan
Cheek - Hish - Rendulic
Meurs - Henley - Mags
Stollery - Noreau
Moose - Stef
Rockford sits in 1st place in the Midwest, a point over Milwaukee and 6 points up on the Monsters with 1 more game played. They play a brutal cycle-possession offense that is perfect for exploiting the Monsters biggest flaw, playing static defense. If LEM are going to win, they need to keep the puck moving and out of their own zone as much as possible.
