Week 9 Recap

Last week's schedule was tough but Lake Erie was equal to the task. 3 games, 3 wins against Chicago and Rockford.

Sunday afternoon's contest at Rockford started out inauspiciously with 2 goals against early but the Monsters woke up and Paul Carey scored 2 to answer and the 1st ended tied. In the 3rd, Rockford got one past Picks that he should have had, but Max Noreau tied it right back and we headed to OT. Once we got to 3v3 time, Coach Dean put out Rendulic, Hishon and Elliott and Hish scored a beauty to win the game. Fantastic win for LEM, 4th in a row and 6th in 8 games.

Grand Rapids Preview

The Monsters and Griffs are tied for 9th in the Western Conference, 1 point in back of Hamilton with 2 games in hand. Tonight's winner goes back into playoff position, one point behind recently struggling Milwaukee. Both teams are coming in on good streaks, something's got to give.

Sami Aittokallio is the expected starter in net for LEM and he's fared well against GRG this year with a 2-1 record. Karl Stollery, Paul Carey and Borna Rendulic remain with the Avs so they won't be available, with the Avs injury woes it's unlikely we see them soon unless they continue their callup rotation.

Stefan Elliott now leads the Monsters in points with 16 in 22 games, Colin Smith has 15 and Michael Schumacher has 14. Smitty, Carey, Hish and Ryan lead the team with 6 goals each.
