Game 29 Preview: Jets Fly Into Denver

The Jets come to Colorado after smacking the Avs around in Winnipeg last week. Lets hope for a better result.

Here we go folks, another game against the Winnipeg Jets.  In the last few seasons these have become some of the worst games for the Avalanche and their fans. The Avs usually match up very poorly against Winnipeg because their size, and in your face forecheck are a nightmare for the Avalanche's piecemeal defense, and their defense is big and mobile.  The last time these two team met well.... it didn't go so well for the Avs.  The Avalanche were physically bullied, outmuscled, and outskated all night, only registering 9 total shots over the first two periods.  On the stick of Bryan Little, the Avs gave Winnipeg their first ever hattrick as a franchise.  It was just that kind of night.

Tuesday night the Avalanche rebounded well and while they beat the Nashville Predators in the possession game, they came up short on the scoreboard, with Pekka Rinne earning the shutout.  Calvin Pickard played phenomenal and the Avs offense created a number of great chances, including a trio of posts.  If the Avs hope to start their winning games tonight, they'll need to put in at least as good a performance as they did on Tuesday.

Bad Blood

The Avalanche do not like Dustin Byfuglien. Like.... at all.

The commentary on the Sgarbossa run in is particularly delightful. Why Byfuglien would even care enough to interfere with Sgarbossa like that though, I have no idea.
