Final Grades 2014: PA Parenteau, #15

Another inconsistent player, Parenteau would show flashes of top-line play only to follow it up with a disappearing act.

Doug Pensinger

PA Parenteau brings a lot to the Avalanche. He's a top-six forward who can elevate his play to match the talent around him and bring the grit where it's needed. When he is on his game, he's a dangerous weapon. Unfortunately, he can't be counted on to play to that level on a consistent basis. Injuries certainly contribute to his struggles, but at times he just seems completely out of sync with his linemates, most evident in his failed attempts at giving and receiving passes. Still, he's a talented winger, so much so that he was (and will continue to be) a centerpiece in trade talks.

SteveHouse: PA played hurt quite a bit too. For him to be effective he needs to be able to be grimey, and when you're on half a knee that isn't going to happen. Maybe not his fault, but so it goes.

c6hor8: Hurt then hurt again. I expect a rebound season next year if he's on the team.

Sandie: I thought he was going to be gone at the trade deadline.

Mike: I just…what happened?  Team pts leader to 2nd PP QB that nobody seemed to trust out there.  Injuries, sminjuries.  Really uneven season. Hoped for more.

SteveHouse: he did score a couple of big goals, for sure, but was for the most part not good at all. whether that was his knee or not, if you're putting yourself out there, you can't give the puck up to avoid contact. absolutely maddening.

c6hor8: A little better than meh

mfured20: PA still had some problems fitting in, even with the depleted top 6.  He did make a a couple special plays, but overall, he still looked like he was trying to find his place.

Mike: Played some of the softest I've ever seen him for the first 4+ games.  Seemed to get his confidence back and take his game away from the boards in the 2nd half of the series.

Preseason Thoughts

SteveHouse (on who will be the top scorer): P.A. Parenteau but the whole top line will be close
