Avs sign Jamie McGinn

Shortly after a press conference that left a lot of people less than thrilled, the Avalanche announced that it has signed forward Jamie McGinn to a two-year deal worth $5.9 million ($2.9 M and $3 M).

McGinn was an important part of the club's success last season. A versatile forward, he's able to slot into that top-six role easily. Jamie recorded a nice return of 38 points (19g, 19a), making him an all around good guy to have on your team. While he can be inconsistent, his versatility makes up for that. He also stepped up in the playoffs, notching 5 points (2g, 3a) in 7 games.

"Jamie is coming off a very good season and played an important role for our team," said Avalanche Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Joe Sakic. "We’re excited to have him under contract for another two years."

This is a guy I think everyone wanted back, and it's good to see it's happened. Now for Tyson Barrie...
