Avalanche releases pre-season schedule

We've got the pre-season dates for 2014-2015.

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

From the Avs' press release:

The Avalanche will play a total of eight exhibition games.  The preseason slate begins with a "split-squad" against the Anaheim Ducks on Monday, Sept. 22.  The Avalanche will then play a pair of road games against the Canadiens in Montreal and Quebec City (Sept. 25-26) before facing Calgary in a home-and-home series from Sept. 28-30.

The Avs will wrap up the preseason schedule with a pair of neutral site games versus the Los Angeles Kings.  The Avs and Kings will face off at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Oct. 2 before concluding the exhibition slate with the annual Frozen Fury matchup on Saturday, Oct. 4 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The Avalanche’s regular-season schedule is expected to be released this Sunday (June 22).

A couple of things to note:

  • This sets training camp the week of the 15th
  • Burgundy/White game will most likely be on the 20th or 21st UNLESS...
  • The split squad game on the 22nd is replacing the annual intra-squad game.
  • An eastern team in preseason? Nicely done, NHL.
  • Friday, Oct 3 is going to be a long day. The springs the night before, flight to Vegas in the morning, embracing Vegas appropriately as soon as we land...CAN. NOT. WAIT.
