2014 NHL Draft: Avalanche pick #204 - Julien Nantel

With their final pick in the 2014 draft, the Avs selected Julien Nantel from Rouyn-Noranda/QMJHL in the 7th round. A 6' 192# C/LW, he had 34 points in 68 games this year.

From eliteprospects:

Nantel is a solid skating two-way forward who will use his frame to protect the puck, has a scorers shot with quick release and knows where to go in the offensive zone to get that scoring chance. Consistency in his efforts needs to be improved.

Interesting take from our Brothers-in-arms over at In Lou We Trust. They had him going in the 2nd or 3rd round, spoke well of his PK and defensive skills.

And the Hockey Writers come through as usual with some excellent information/aggregation.

Looks like a lot of people had him picked much earlier than the 7th round in this years' draft. We might have something here. Also comes from Andre Tourigny's former team, so we know the Avs have good info on him.
