According to reports, Brad Stuart has been acquired by the Avs from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a 2016 2nd round pick and a 6th round pick in 2017.
This addition definitely brings more defense to the blueline as Stuart is a tough defender who will shore up some of the weaknesses Colorado experienced last season. Stuart isn't an offensive guy as his 11 points last year indicates. The 34-year old blueliner has one year left on his contract at a reasonable price of $3.6M per year.
Avs fans might remember Stuart as the guy who rung Landy's bell a couple years ago and put him into the dark room on a bad night in San Jose. Hopefully Stuart brings that same presence to the Avs and makes them tougher to play against.
Stuart's arrival in Denver likely means a new partner for Tyson Barrie moving into next season.
