Avs Rookie Camp Day 2: Viewers Guide & Open Thread

Jeff Zelevansky

Our beloved prospects will be back at it again today, 9:45 MT for the goalies and 10:00 for the skaters. AJ, Jori & Dario will be back at the rink and word on the street is that Cheryl will be joining them and tweeting out from the MHH account.

AJ will have a Day Two recap up later in the day and Dario will have more wonderful HD video footage for all of us unable to attend.

Some notes from yesterday:

- Practice was run by Coach Dean, Randy Ladouceur and Jean-Ian Filiatrault from the Monsters staff with David Oliver and new hire Brett Clark helping out from the Avs Development staff. Francois Allaire of course worked with the goalies. Good chance we'll see some of the Avs staff there today too.

- Alexis Pepin and Julien Nantel did not take part in yesterday's activities. Pepin is out from shoulder surgery and Nantel was shaken up in his last QMJHL game, no word when he'll be available. I hope he gets on the ice this week, I'd like to see a bit of his game.

- The Avs site has grown by leaps and bounds over the last year. They've got a good recap up and some interviews with Roman Will, Cody Corbett, Bleackley and Bigras from yesterday. Great to see that.

- Also from the Avs site:

Conner Bleackley's leadership was on full display after practice.

While the other players were removing their equipment in the locker room, Bleackley went into the team players' lounge and brought out a handful of water bottles and started handing them out to his fellow campers.

There was a reason why the Avalanche thought so highly of Bleackley's leadership when the team chose him at No. 23, and why he was named captain of his junior team, the Red Deer Rebels, at the age of 17 last November.

That'll put a smile on your face.
