MHH Fantasy Hockey Update & Scoring

I'm writing this on Friday afternoon secure in the knowledge that it will be buried by the Avalanche (oh yes, I did that) of excellent training camp coverage produced by the MHH Legion of Lazy Staff Writers, but I owe you lot an update on the pending 2014-15 MHH Fantasy Hockey season, so here goes:

The MHH Yahoo league is full, with 20 teams. Scoring is on a head to head basis, with the team winning the most categories (Goals, assists, etc.) winning the matchup.

The MHH ESPN league still has about 10 spots left. If you're interested in playing, email me your name & MHH handle to hopfenkopf19 at yahoo and I'll send you back an invite. Scoring in the ESPN league is a format new to me, so I wanted to get the input of those of you playing on how we tweak it. The scoring method is known as Head to Head Points and works like this:

Goals (G) 3 Assists (A) 2

Faceoffs Won (FOW) 0.1 Faceoffs Lost (FOL) -0.05

Shots on goal (SOG) 0.15 Hits (HIT) 0.25

Blocked Shots (BLK) 0.25 Power Play Points (PPP) 1

Short Handed Points (SHP) 2

Wins (W) 6 Shots Against (SA) 0.05

Goals Against (GA) -0.5 Shutouts (SO) 4

Overtime Losses (OTL) 2

So, for example, when Landy buries a sweet feed from MacK (who in turn got it from Holden off the point) on the power play, scoring is- Landy gets 4.15 points (3 points G, 1 point PPP, 0.15 points shot). MacK and Holden each get 3 points (2 points A, 1 point PPP).

Unlike the Yahoo head to head scoring, where you can win a matchup by winning more categories than your opponent, even if they crush you in the important categories like G, A, SV%, Wins or Shutouts, here, you have to do well in the big categories to win the match.

The points for each category can be modified. I've already done so, but want to solicit the opinion of the others playing in this league. What do you think?

One other point - between MHH usernames, Yahoo usernames and some great team names, I don't think that I have much of an idea as to who in the Yahoo League is who. If you're in the Yahoo league, please comment with your team name below. I'm keeping my team name of die dollen Köller in both Yahoo and ESPN. Presuming that I don't get a case of the Randys, I may provide some MHH reporting on the leagues this year. Then again, I'd like to be a staff writer...
