Avs Recall D Stefan Elliott

Stefan Elliott recalled to help aid injured and ineffective blue line.

The Avalanche announced, heaven forbid, through their team's official Twitter account today that they have recalled D Stefan Elliott up from the Lake Erie Monsters. Elliott, who has NHL totals of 6G, 12 A, 18Pts in 58 GP, was leading Colorado's AHL affiliate in goals scored with 12 en route to amassing 26 points overall, second on the team behind fellow defenseman Maxim Noreau.

The talented blueliner has long tantalized fans and coaches alike with his robust array of offensive abilities but his defensive game has been slow to develop. The area where Elliott figures to most help the Avalanche would be on the power play, where 7 of his 12 goals have come this season, as the team has struggled mightily this season with the league's second worst PP at a conversion rate of just 13.6%.

Brought back this past off-season on just a 1 year deal, this call-up could very well make or break his future with the Avalanche organization.

As a longtime fan of the kid, go get 'em, Stef.
