Ok, I've finally emerged the stupor induced by Thursday's 3rd-period collapse against Minnesota. You'd think being comatose would alleviate some of the pain that caused, but unfortunately it's yet to subside. Patrick Roy and his band of merry Burgundy & Blue men need a win tonight, and they'll have to do it against an emerging Dallas team plenty of firepower.
The Stars have finished between 89 and 95 points the last four (full) seasons, missing the playoffs in all but 2013-14. In that time, Dallas fans have seen their team develop into an offensive juggernaut, employing last year's leading point scorer in Jamie Benn as well as one of the league's most exciting goal scorers in Tyler Seguin. The team finished with 257 goals last year, finishing 2nd in the NHL, but also 4th in goals allowed among the likes of basement-dwellers like Buffalo and Edmonton. Dallas hopes to rectify this malady having traded for San Jose Sharks netminder Antii Niemi. In his debut with the Stars, Niemi delivered a 37-save shutout against the Pittsburgh Penguins -- not too shabby.
