Game 28 Preview: Wild @ Avalanche

The Minnesota Wild (14-7-4) come to town to take on the Avalanche (11-15-1) for the second half of a home-and-home.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Avs closed out a four game road trip in Minnesota Saturday night. Semyon Varlamov was outstanding in net stopping 41 shots. Unfortunately for the Avs, he was the only player that seemed to show up for the Avalanche, as the Avs allowed the Wild to take advantage of a couple of their many mistakes and escape with a 3-0 victory. The Avs will have their chance to respond Monday night as they finish up the home-and-home with Minnesota Monday night on home ice. The Avs will look to avenge another Wild shutout and begin chiseling at the lead of the teams above them in the Central.

NOTES

Devan Dubnyk will not be in net for the Wild Monday night after leaving Saturday's game with a mild groin strain. As he did Saturday, Darcy Kuemper will relieve Dubnyk of his starting duties.

- Saturday's game was just the second time the Avalanche have been shutout all season. The Avs were shutout eight times last season, including three times by the Wild.

- In case you didn't know, the Avalanche's 20th anniversary team will be honored before the game Monday.
