Game 68 Preview: Dance with the Devils

The New Jersey Devils (28-29-10) come to Denver to take on the Avalanche (30-26-11).

Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

Despite a good outing Tuesday night, the Avs fell short against the Kings. Calvin Pickard just didn't seem to be fully ready for the NHL level and Reto Berra ended up playing a majority of the game. With Varlamov still questionable, it will be interesting to see who Patrick Roy turns to if Varlamov's groin in still on the med.

The Avs will be taking on the Devils Thursday night. After unloading Jagr at the deadline, the Devils are in cruise control toward the offseason. With Jagr gone, the Devils already struggling offense will be struggling even more. At 2.22 goals per game, the Devils are in the bottom five in the league. At game 67, the Devils points leader is Adam Henrique with just 35 points. No matter who the Avs throw out in the crease, the Devils will have to get their offense running.

NOTES

- Along with a poor goals for percentage, the Devils are second to last in shots per game and third to last in face-off percentage.

- With an assist last game, Gabriel Landeskog kept his hot streak alive and moved past Jarome Iginla for the team lead in points.

- The Avs will sport their third jerseys tonight. Rumor has it that the blueberry jerseys as they have been affectionately called since 2009 will be retired at season's end in favor of a new jersey for the Stadium Series game next February.
