Game 79 Preview: The west coast trip continues

24 hours after a come-from-behind win in Anaheim, the Avalanche (36-30-12) visit the playoff hopeful Los Angeles Kings (38-25-14)

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

A little positive energy from the Avalanche after defeating one of the top teams in the NHL on the road behind 35 saves from Reto Berra. (Yeah all that actually happened last night). But it's on to Los Angeles to take on the defending Stanley Cup champs.

The Kings are currently tied with Winnipeg on 90 points for the final wild card spot (and own the ROW tiebreaker), and are one point behind Calgary for third place in the Pacific Division. All to play for with five games left. They are also coming off an 8-2 win over Edmonton on Thursday...eeek.

The Kings are 6-0-1 in the last seven games in this series, so will be interesting to see how they fare here. Jonathan Quick and Seymon Varlamov should be the goalies in this one.

Defensively, it's anyone's guess. They were all over the place last night and might be the same tonight. Nick Holden (20:07) and Brad Stuart (23:03) led the team in TOI ($$$$).

Notes

Joey Hishon is still looking for his first point of the season. Tonight will be his 10th game. He played about 11 minutes last night.

Drew Doughty's goal against Edmonton ended a 24-game goalless streak.

This game is apparently on some CBC stations (?).

Duchene has 11 points in his last 11 games.
