Mile High Hockey Fantasy Hockey 2015-2016

To the depraved hordes of August-degenerated, hockey-mad denizens of MHH:

As September tantalizingly approaches and with it the promise of rookie camp, training camp and the Imaginary Awesomeness attendant thereto, I offer for your consideration the fifth iteration of Mile High Hockey Fantasy Hockey Leagues.

This year I'll commission both the Yahoo Head to Head League and the ESPN Head to Head Points League that we ran last year. Each league has spots for 20 teams. Scoring and team structure is detailed below.

MHH Yahoo League:

20 teams, 4 Divisions. 8 teams make playoffs, 4 Division winners & 4 Wildcards

2 each - C, LW, RW, G. 4- D, 4 bench players. 2 IR slots, 1 IR+ slot

Skater Categories: Goals (G), Assists (A), Powerplay Points (PPP), Shorthanded Points (SHP), Shots on Goal (SOG), Faceoffs Won (FW), Hits (HIT), Blocks (BLK)

Keeper Categories: Wins (W), Goals Against Average (GAA), Save Percentage (SV%), Shutouts (SHO)

Min. 3 keeper starts/week

MHH ESPN League:

20 teams, 4 Divisions, 8 teams make playoffs, 4 Division winners & 4 Wildcards

2 each - C, LW, RW, G. 4- D, 4 bench players. 2 IR slots

This is a points league. In contrast to the Yahoo Head to Head setup in which you try to ensure that your teams gets more of each category (Goals, Hits, PP points, etc.) in order to win the most categories and thus the match, here you get a set number of points for each event and the team with the most points at the end of the week wins the match. Here's the breakdown:

Goals (G) 3 Assists (A) 2
Faceoffs Won (FOW) 0.1 Faceoffs Lost (FOL) -0.05
Shots on goal (SOG) 0.15 Hits (HIT) 0.25
Blocked Shots (BLK) 0.25 Power Play Points (PPP) 1
Short Handed Points (SHP) 2

Wins (W) 6 Shots Against (SA) 0.05
Goals Against (GA) -0.5 Shutouts (SO) 4
Overtime Losses (OTL) 2

I figure that we'll do live drafts for each league shortly before the season starts - likely on a Sunday evening before the season starts on October 7th.

So, what do you all think? Interested in playing this year? If so, please send me an email (from the email that you want to use for the league - i.e. one that you check more than twice a year) to hopfenkopf19 at yahoo dot com with the following info:

Your real name

Your MHH handle

Which league (Yahoo/ESPN) you want to play in (including both or either).

Let me know in the comments if you have questions, issues, concerns or deep seated emotional problems that you'd like to work out with a stranger completely devoid of psychological or counseling training in full view of the entirety of the internet.

Update as of Sept. 8, 2015 @ 10.15AM Mountain - All 20 Invitations for the Yahoo league have been sent out. Three owners have not yet claimed/registered their teams and I have two people on a waiting list for Yahoo. If you fail to claim / register your team within a week of the invite being sent out, I will send invites to other interested players and you may find that you don't get a team in that league. There are currently 11 spots available in the ESPN League with two pending invitations.
