Avalanche Reduce Roster to 26

Colorado makes eleven cuts today in advance of Thursday's preseason game.

Candice Ward-USA TODAY Sports

The Avalanche made seven more cuts today following last night's preseason game in Calgary. Defenseman Max Noreau and Zach Redmond and forwards Joey Hishon, Patrick Bordeleau, and Marc-Andre Cliche were placed on waivers and will have to pass through before becoming eligible to play for the AHL's San Antonio Rampage. Other cuts include goalie Calvin Pickard, defenseman Chris Bigras, and forwards Andreas Martinsen and Andrew Agozzino. 19-year old Conner Bleackley was returned to his junior team, the WHL's Red Deer Rebels. Andrej Meszaros was released from his professional tryout today and will again be a free agent.

This round of cuts leaves 26 still remaining on Colorado's preseason roster. Three more subtractions will have to be made before the season starts October 10th against the Minnesota Wild (though, there is a strong chance Jesse Winchester begins the season on the injured list with ongoing concussion symptoms).
