Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Your Colorado Avalanche open the 2016 season vs the Stars of Dallas tonight at the Pepsi Center. Game time is 9pm ET, 7pm local and will be broadcast on Altitude with Moser’s radio call on AltRadio950. Word is that there’s a 2-hour pre-game show on the radio before the Avs hit the ice. If you dig it let them know and maybe they will continue with more fine Avalanche pre-game programming throughout the season. FWIW, the Avs have beaten the Stars twice recently in meaningless pre-season games.

New coaches, new alternate captains, new players, new systems all converge tonight as we finally get an idea of how all this blends together and if all these goofballs that predict Colorado to be the worst team in the league have a clue. Smooth Johnny Mitchell is the only known injury on the roster and Mikko Rantanen has been assigned to San Antonio to get into game shape after missing the last month with an ankle injury. The Rampage play at 8ET so if you want to kill some time head over to the Rampage thread or just listen here to root on Mikko, Coach Veilleux and the guys before the big show.

Projectile Lineup

Landeskog - MacKinnon - Iginla
Grigorenko - Soderberg - Duchene
G Bourque - Colbourne - R Bourque
Martinsen - Comeau - Smith

Zadorov - Johnson
Beauchemin - Barrie
Tyutin - Weircioch

Scratched: Gelinas (nacho), McLeod (nacho), Mitchell (hip flexor)
Injured: none

This concludes the Avs opening homestand. Next game will be Monday night vs the Stanley Cup champs in Pittsburgh.

We have a new feature this year for the GDTs. Given the divisive nature of the Avs new goal song, it seems like an opportunity to present “82 songs the Avs might have considered instead of Delirious”. Today features “Fight Song” by Marilyn Manson. Enjoy.
