Remember this guy from the Avs training camp a few months ago? Well he has just been reassigned to the Colorado Eagles by the San Antonio Rampage this afternoon. Here are some of the things that impressed me when I was watching him during the Avs training camp, Burgundy and White game, and preseason games:
· Speed- St.Amant was to the point where he seemed to be nearly all over the ice when he was trying to crack the roster. This will be good for the Eagles, as it will contribute to the teams overall speed.
· Grit- St.Amant was one of the main players who really caught my attention because he always finished his checks, and never backed down from anybody. This will match perfectly with the Eagles style, while also adding even more grit and competitiveness to an already deeply skilled roster.
· Size- He will add more size to the Eagles roster, as he is about 6'0", and 180 pounds
The kid can flat out play, and he should quickly become a favorite in the Eagles organization. The 19 year old rookie had spent the past three seasons playing in the QMJHL with the Val-D'Or Foreurs where he was able to post 113 points in 194 games. During his time in the "Q", St. Amante's most productive season was in the 2015-16 season where he won the Guy Carbonneau trophy for being the best Defensive Forward in the league.
The Eagles also acquired hometown kid, Darik Angeli in a trade with the Manchester Monarchs in exchange for future considerations. Angeli was born in Lakewood and grew up playing triple AAA hockey with the Colorado Rampage U18 team.
