The Eagles were able to pull out a 2-0 victory over the Alaska Aces in their first game of the weekend series. Kent Simpson was a brick wall for the Eagles in the shutout, stopping all of the 26 shots that the Aces took. With tonight's victory, the Eagles now go 3-0 to begin the season, continuing to the good start for Colorado hockey teams.

One of the key factors in tonight's victory for the Eagles, was their penalty kill. In this first period alone, the Eagles had to withstand 4 Aces powerplays, one including a double minor penalty on Eagles defenseman Teigan Zahn. Neither team would be able to find the back of the net in the first period, but it was the Eagles who found it first in the second period with a goal from Eagles forward Jesse Mychan to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead. The 2nd period would end with the Eagles up 1-0, but the 3rd period so many opportunities from both teams. In the end, it would be an empty net goal from Eagles defenseman Matt Register to seal the deal.

These two teams will square off against in the final game of the series Saturday night at 7:05pm. Be sure to show up and support your Eagles as they look to go 4-0 to begin the season!

Go Eagles!
