The Colorado Eagles were able to capture another point in their Utah road trip with a shootout loss to the Utah Grizzlies with the final score of 3-2.
Utah found the back of the net first in the first period with forward Shane Walsh firing a shot from the top of the right circle that would find its way past Eagles goaltender Nathen Lieuwen at the 10:41 mark of the first period. The Eagles would tie up the game with Eagles forward Jesse Mychan, beating the Grizzlies goaltender Ryan Faragher to tie the game up at one.
In the second period the Eagles would start off on the power play, but it would be the Grizzlies who would convert on a goal when forward Kenton Helgesen would make the score 2-1 in the Grizzlies favor.
The second period would end with the Grizzlies up 2-1
The score remained 2-1 in the favor of the Grizzlies up until the Eagles pulled Lieuwen out of the net for the man advantage, where the Eagles would tie the game with a goal from Luke Salazar. Overtime was filled with both teams having opportunities but not being able to convert on any of the shots, so the game moved into shootout where Farragher would find the back of the net for the Grizzlies. Lieuwen would stop three Grizzlies before surrendering the winner to Walsh for the 3-2 Grizzlies victory.
The Eagles will be coming back to town Wednesday night when they welcome the Reading Royals to the Budweister Events Center, puck drop will be a 7:05pm at the Budweiser Events Center.
