With Matt Duchene out with an eye issue and Blake Comeau needing more time to reach 100% the Avs need a forward. They called up a good one. AJ Greer will make his NHL debut tomorrow night vs the Boston Bruins.
Greer is currently tied for 4th in the AHL in scoring with 5 goals and 9 assists in 13 games for the Rampage. He also leads all rookies in points and assists and is tied for 1st in goals with his buddy JT Compher among others.
Looking at the Avs practice lines today, there’s a spot open in the top-6 where Blake Comeau skated today. I doubt the staff anticipates playing him 2nd line minutes right off the bat but he could surprise them and stay in there the whole game. One thing AJ Greer is really good at is surprising people.
