Landy on IR, Henley & Bourque called up from San Antonio

NHL: Colorado Avalanche at Pittsburgh Penguins Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Avs announced late this afternoon that captain Gabe Landeskog has been placed on Injured Reserve retroactive to November 15th, meaning he can be activated at any time. Unfortunately he is not skating at this point although still remains “day-to-day” for what that’s worth. The team’s guidance is limited to the fact he won’t be in the lineup tomorrow vs Columbus.

With two open roster spots now, the staff called up forwards Sam Henley and Gabe Bourque from San Antonio. Bourque spent 5 games with the Avs at the beginning of the year and has 2G/3A with the Rampage, playing mostly a top-6 role and doing major work on the PK. Big Sam has a goal and 3 assists for San Antonio while also getting major minutes on the Rampage’s 4th ranked PK.

Given the nature of Tuesday’s game it’s difficult to predict exactly what tomorrow’s lineup is going to look like and whether one or both of the callups will be utilized. Stay tuned, more on this tomorrow.
