Don't worry, Colorado. We still have the Colorado Eagles!

Friday; December 2nd, 2016

The Thunder would cruise over the Colorado Eagles in their first ever meeting with a 5-1 victory, in an affair where the Thunder would convert on three powerplay goals to top the Eagles. For the Eagles, the lone goal would come off the stick of Matt Garbowsky, his seventh of the season.

The Eagles would make sure to come out in the final meeting of the two game weekend series against the Thunder, as they would top of the Thunder with a final score of 6-2. A huge story behind the dominating victory, was the Eagles success on the special teams. Altogether the Eagles would go 4-for-4 on the powerplay, and 6-for-6 on the penalty kill to dominate the Thunder.

There would be no goals in the first period, but following a second period penalty kill the Eagles would jump to the 1-0 lead coming off the stick of Josh Nicholls during a powerplay of their own. Five minutes later, the Eagles would convert on another powerplay goal from Casey Pierro-Zabotel to extend the Eagles lead to 2-0.

The Thunder would eventually get a goal of their own to bring themselves to one goal; but Mychan had something to say about that, as he would convert on a goal of his own to extend the Eagles lead to 3-1. Pierro-Zabotel would get the second of the night, as he would fire it past the Thunders keeper to extend the Eagles lead to 4-1. Resiliency would kick in for the Thunder, as they would get a goal of their own to bring the score 4-2.

Pierro-Zabotel would ultimately close out the game with an empty netter to put a dagger in the Thunder's comeback hope.

The Eagles will be back in action this week, as they will kick off a three-game series against the Idaho Steelheads that will begin on Wednesday, December 7th at 7:05pm MT with the second game happening on Friday, December 9th at 7:05pm, and the final game of the series on December 10th at 7:05pm (my birthday!)
