In the first game of the three game series against the Idaho Steelheads, the Eagles would ultimately walk away with the victory after topping the Eagles 5-4. The Eagles would rely on a hot start in the first period where they would score three goals coming off the sticks of Darryl Bootland, Matt Register, and Josh Nicholls.
The second period would see more of the same, as the Eagles would carry their momentum from the first period. Mychan would add another tally to put up the Eagles 4-0, before the Steelheads would get a goal of their own. Ryan Harrison would convert on an opportunity before the end of the second period to make it 5-1 Eagles.
There was one event that happened in the third period that everyone is asking of footage for-- GOALIE FIGHT! Apparently the Steelheads goalkeeper came across the ice to challenger Saunders, but Saunders was able to take him down.
The Steelheads would try to mount a comeback, as they would be able to convert on three unanswered goals. However, obviously they were unable to tie the game, giving the Eagles the big first game of the series against the division leading Steelheads.
The next game of the series is set for Friday, December 9th at 7:05pm at the Budweiser Events Center. If this game showed anything, you don't want to miss it!
