2016 NHL Draft: Avs Pick Travis Barron in the 7th Round

The Colorado Avalanche have selected Travis Barron from the Ottawa 67s with the 191st pick in the 7th round. Barron is a 6'1 187# left winger who racked up some decent numbers in the OHL last year with 13 goals and 24 assists in 60 games. He was a 3rd overall pick by Ottawa in the OHL draft in 2014. Sounds like a grinder with some good offensive upside if it develops. I like it, good type to take a chance on in the 7th round.

From The Hockey Writers:

Barron’s unspectacular offensive production will probably drop him past the top two rounds. However, his all-around game, strong character, and leadership history should be enticing enough for a team to take a chance on his talent turning into offensive production somewhere in the third to fifth rounds. However, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a team that loves the complete package Barron offers pick him in the middle to late second round.
