Good morning all. As far as I know Sandie will be back tomorrow so please enjoy this final cakeless version as it is. Before we get to links I’d just like to mention that we all get to freak out about player/team asks in the Tyson Barrie arbitration case at some point this morning, which is nice. Onward and upward.
- The Victoriaville Tigres have named Louis Robitaille as their new head coach and their 3rd since the season ended. You might recall that Eric Veilleux was briefly their coach before accepting the San Antonio Rampage job a few weeks ago. What you probably don’t know is that their coach from last year, Daniel Frechette, resigned due to health reasons and unfortunately passed away this weekend. Our thoughts go out his family and everyone in the Tigres organization. It’s been a tough summer for the team, hopefully signing a new coach will get them moving forward.
- JT Compher is the latest contestant for the Avs Prospect Q&A segment. On a side note, I found it interesting that he stayed with Avs prospect Cody Corbett when he arrived a week early for dev camp.
- We saw Corbett a bit on the ice with the other fellows after a few dropouts but folks like me that love minutiae wondered why he was there in the first place. I guess he was in Denver for a while taking advantage of access to Avs training staff and I’m sure skating/working out with others in the org. That’s good to see, Corbett’s in the final year of his ELC and frankly hasn’t done much to impress so far. There’s a lot more competition for ice time in San Antonio now and Corbett’s offensive talent would be greatly welcomed by the Rampage if he can shore up some of his weak points.
- This reads more like an infomercial for UND online classes (which it is) but Rocco Grimaldi talks about finishing his degree after turning pro two years into his college career.
- Tyson Jost tweeted out that he’s been working out with Dynamic Edge Powerskating this week. I may be way off here but I think I saw another Avs player working with them last summer (Grigo maybe?). If anyone can remember if this is true/false or who else that might have been I think I can get you some tix to the Pitbull concert in San Antonio as a guest of Rampage Nate for a prize.
