Colorado’s summer development camp begins on-ice activities tomorrow. According to the Avs schedule, there will be power skating in the morning with returning instructor Tracy Tutton and puck skills in the afternoon. The final day on Saturday will have puck skills followed by some 3v3 scrimmage and a skills competition.

24 youngsters will be in attendance, 17 who were drafted by the Avs and the rest are try-outs. Here they are broken down by draft class:

2013

Spencer Martin G, San Antonio/Ft Wayne. Should be full time in San Antonio this season.

Will Butcher D, Denver University. Will be back at DU as captain.

Ben Storm LW, St Cloud State. Back as a full time forward this summer he will return to SCSU.

2014

Anton Lindholm D, Skelleftea (SHL). Signed ELC this spring, will be in San Antonio

Julien Nantel LW/C, Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL). Signed ELC this spring, will also be in San Antonio

2015

AJ Greer LW, BU (NCAA)/Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL). Just signed ELC, most likely will turn pro and be in San Antonio but does have option to return to the Q.

Nicolas Meloche D, Gatineau (QMJHL). Will return to Gatineau for final year in Juniors

Jean-Christophe Beaudin C, Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL). Will return to RN this fall.

Sergei Boikov D, Drummondville (QMJHL). Signed ELC this spring after ATO in San Antonio. Will be with the Rampage this fall.

Gustav Olhaver C/LW, Seattle/Swift Current (WHL). Will play for Rogle’s junior squad in Sweden.

2016

Tyson Jost C, Penticton (BCHL). Will go to North Dakota this fall.

Cam Morrison LW, Youngstown (USHL). Will most likely go to Notre Dame this fall.

Josh Anderson D, Prince George (WHL). Will return to Prince George.

Adam Werner G, Farjestad J20. Will play on loan to Bjorkloven (Allsvenskan)

Nathan Clurman D, Culver Military Academy. Likely to play for Tri-Cities (USHL) this fall.

Travis Barron LW, Ottawa (OHL). Will return to Ottawa.

Try-outs

Chase Marchand G, Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL). Looking for a pro job next year and the Avs have a need at goalie.

Griffin Luce D, USNTDP. Big defenseman that was eligible for this year’s draft, will attend U of Michigan this fall.

Jackson Houck RW, Vancouver/Calgary (WHL). Former Oilers 4th round pick, he’s a fairly skilled scoring wing. Played 3 games for the Rampage on an ATO this spring.

Brogan O’Brien LW/C, Prince George (WHL). Big 2-way forward that was eligible for this year’s draft.

Jeffrey Truchon-Viel LW, Acadie-Bathurst (QMJHL). Scorer/agitator, was eligible for this year’s draft.

Filip Karlsson C/LW. Have to take a wild guess here because there’s like 10 Filip Karlssons to choose from, but the likely one is from Rogle in the Swedish League. Looks like a smaller 20 year old scoring forward.

Shawn Ouellette-St Amant W, Val d’Or (QMJHL). Good 2-way forward who won the Q equivalent of the Selke trophy this year.

First of all it’s great to see all the NCAA prospects able to attend, first time that’s happened. We’re all dying to get a look at the 2016 guys and all 6 showed up. Hopefully a few of the faithful can show up and get a handle on what we’ve got.

Second, I like seeing some quality try-outs. The Rampage still have a few holes to fill and having a few more youngsters with potential on the roster would be optimum. I like Marchand, Houck and Ouellet-St Amant’s chances of getting some sort of contract offer and Luce & Karlsson (if I have the right one) are intriguing players for sure.

More on this as the week progresses and anyone with time on their hands please feel free to go observe and report back.
