Good morning all. The Summer Showcase in Plymouth, MI wraps up today with the final two games. Up to this point Tyson Jost’s Canada squad has played twice and lost once in OT and again in a blowout but reports are promising on his play. Sweden’s Adam Werner hasn’t played yet as far as I can tell, hopefully he gets some PT today.
Schedule:
Sweden vs Finland 4pmET/2pmMT
USA vs Canada 7pmET/5pmMT
I’ll dig around and see what we can come up with as far as press on the event but I’d honestly be more interested in the opinions of our dear readers that have watched the games so please feel free to post up any thoughts so far so we can have a central space for everything.

Unrelated, but Guy Flaming is reporting that the Avs have hired Brandon Wheat Kings head scout Wade Klippenstein in some capacity. The Avs parted ways with Western Canada scout Rick Lanz at some point this season and need someone to fill the void. New scouts Lyle Wingert & John Funk helped in that area but they need someone experienced and full-time in that role.
Klippenstein has been the Director of Scouting for Brandon for the last 3 years after being the Asst GM and Director of Player Personnel in Prince George for 6 years. Save for a few years as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Alaska-Fairbanks, he’s been involved in Western Canadian junior hockey for the last 2 decades. If you’re looking for the nepotistic Avs connection, he played for the Nords’ AHL affiliate in Cornwall in 93-94 along with new Rampage coach Eric Veilleux.
