The Colorado Eagles would try all they could to win this game-- but there was one problem. The Idaho Steelheads had goaltender Phillipe Desrosiers in net.
The Steelheads goaltender would finish the game with 52 total saves after the Eagles would rack up a season-high total of 53 shots on net. The lone goal would come off the stick of Casey Pierro-Zabotel in the loss, his 14th goal of the season.
Idaho would get themselves on the scoreboard first at the 7:56 mark of the first period, when the Eagles would fail to get the puck out of the zone, and defenseman Corbin Baldwin would make them pay for it giving the Steelheads the 1-0 lead.
The Eagles would pour it on in the second period, recording a season high of 23 shots. However, Desrosiers would be up for the challenge as he would stop every single one. Idaho would extend their lead to 2-0, as forward Anthony Luciani would fire a one-timer past Kent Simpson at the 14:09 mark of the second period. The Eagles would continue to pour on shots, but before the end of the second period the Steelheads would extend their lead to 3-0.
Casey Pierro-Zabotel would finally get the Eagles on the board by forcing the puck past Desrosiers while crashing the net and finding the loose puck.
The Eagles would be help 0-for-5 on the powerplay.
The Eagles will conclude their three-game series against the Steelheads on Saturday, January 14, 2017 with puckdrop scheduled at 7:10pm MT.
