Game 43 Preview: Avalanche @ Ducks

After an offensive loss to the Blackhawks, the Avs (13-28-1) hit the road against the Ducks (25-13-9).

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Most nights the Avs' problem is goals. Tuesday night that was not the case as the Avs put up four goals against the Blackhawks and for the second game in a row blew a third period lead to lose the game. The Avs simulated a road game on Tuesday, but will head on the road for real Thursday when they head to Anaheim to face the Ducks.

The Avs will be without Semyon Varlamov for the trip and for awhile as he continues to struggle with injuries. Spencer Martin was recalled Wednesday for Varlamov's time away and he is expected to get a chance to play some time in the next couple weeks. We'll see how Pickard and company do in the meantime as the Avalanche take on a team they've been known to be scouting lately.

NOTES

- The Ducks and Avs are first and second in the NHL in Face-off Winning percentage.

- Stars Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry, who combine for a fourth of the Ducks payroll have 13 combined goals this season.

- The latest addition to songs that would make a better Avs goal song isn't exactly fitting for the Avs' current situation, but it's a pretty good song...
